I just hope that I
can sort of relate what I saw over there to what's happening here,
because no matter how much we as veterans can relate to the press or to
the public, until you've grasped it, man, we're not going to end that
war because it's too distant. The man on the street is too busy making
a buck here, and he's too worried about getting antifreeze for his car.

I'm just getting to a
point where it's sort of making me quiet, like I don't know what to say
anymore.

They've all heard it,
and they all know it's happening, but it's like nothing's happening.

You're supposed to
feel sorry for the American wounded, and you weren't supposed to feel sorry
for the enemy wounded or dead.

And I just felt sorry
for the whole thing. But I guess that doesn't mean anything, just
feeling sorry about it. I think what I'd really like to testify
about is that it's just hurt a whole generation of Americans and
Vietnamese, and that's the biggest atrocity.
