We don't know what happened to them.
That was the only village in the
immediate vicinity, so we cleared the area more or less.
Everything is set on fire.
My squad leader personally ignited the
first two hootches ...
and then just told us to take care of
the rest.
When we went out, I'd say 50% at least
of the villages we passed through would be burned to the ground.
There was no difference between some
that we burned and the ones we didn't burn. It's just that some we
had time and we'd burn them.
We were given orders whenever we moved
into a village to reconnoiter by fire.
