VT ARMY Dear Virginia Tech Army ROTC Alumnus and Friends, A year ago, the Virginia Tech Army ROTC Alumni Endowment Fund was created to provide our Cadets with additional training, recognition and professional development opportunities. This is also a wonderful way for alumni to give back to the program that hopefully provided a solid military foundation that contributed to the their success. The spirit and excellence of the Virginia Tech Army ROTC program is alive and thriving. Today's program is growing annually; and the Cadre are excited and motivated to train the young and courageous individuals who will one day swear an oath to protect our nation. Unfortunately, due to Global War on Terrorism operational requirements, our Army funding is not keeping pace with our growing Cadet population. As funds diminish, the extra opportunities we were able to provide our Cadets are at risk. Some of the recent opportunities our Cadets enjoyed are the Sandhurst competition at the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C., the Army Marksmanship Competition at Fort Benning and other team building and training events that set the Virginia Tech Army ROTC apart from other Army ROTC programs nationwide. The Virginia Tech Army ROTC Cadets turned in the best Senior Military College performance in the nation this past summer at the Leadership Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis, WA. My Cadre and I are committed to providing the Virginia Tech Army ROTC leaders with every advantage and you can play a critical role in that effort by helping us resource the absolute best leadership training and development program available. Our greatest reward is to see confident, well developed, and intelligent young men and women receive their commission into the United States Army from Virginia Tech. At this critical time, these young men and women swear an oath of office knowing that in a very short time they may well be placed in harms way. Working as one team, the Virginia Tech Army ROTC Alumni Endowment Fund will enable our program to create more effective training environments and generate more opportunities for our exceptional Cadets. If you are on campus or planning to visit the campus, please stop by our office or call (540)231- 6401. You are welcome to come and share your experiences with the Cadets; they will appreciate your time and interest in them. Please forward your gift to: Virginia Tech Army ROTC, Account # 872289 and mail it to the above address. Please be sure to write the account number on your check. Please accept our thanks for your service to our nation and your interest in the Virginia Tech Army ROTC program. If you have not visited our website recently, please log on at http://armyrotc.vt.edu/ so we can update your status/whereabouts. We hope you share our pride in the program and visit with us soon and witness first hand the continuous improvements we are making to our leadership training program. "One Team, One Fight"
