STRANGE DAYS -- SCREENCAP GALLERY

On the smallest island, only the toughest plants now survive. Those that remain are heavily defended, armed with thorns or chemicals. It’s hard to imagine that this place was once part of a lush forest, but not long ago, most of what is now Lake Guri was an unbroken expanse of green.

Before the flood, Guri was a riot of plant life, vibrant and diverse. Living among the plants were animals from the small and furtive to the large and powerful. Each had a role to play in an intricate community. Dominating this ecosystem were the top predators with muscle, speed and size on their side. In the middle of the food chain were animals like howler monkeys which rule the treetops, protecting territory with their signature calls. Today Guri is strangely quiet, it’s silence seldom broken.
