Showdown -- Laura Walks Out on
Prez, by Jim Nelson, a Globe World Exclusive
His 'Sceptre'
Isn't Working!, by Tara Carreon January 21, 2008 GEORGE BUSH was left with two nasty gashes on his cheek after furious First Lady Laura raked his face with her nails during a bitter blow-up over the president's drinking -- and now they're once again headed for divorce, sources tell GLOBE in a world exclusive! As you can clearly see by our shocking bombshell photo, right, the president has a bloody, 3-inch slash down the left side of his face and a smaller cut below after the explosive confrontation. "It all finally boiled over," says one top White House source. "Poor Laura has held it in for years. She just couldn't take it anymore. But no one -- I mean no one -- ever thought it would come to this. It's so very, very sad." The first couple's battle just before the New Year ignited when Laura caught the problem drinker with whiskey at the family ranch in Crawford, Texas -- and a boozy Bush hurled a string of obscenities at her, sources tell GLOBE. "Laura just lost it," the insider says. "She can't stand it when he drinks. She demanded he put the glass down and he told her what she could do with the glass. In a split second she lunged at him screaming and slapped him -- hard. Apparently, her nails sliced into his face in the fracas. "It was over in seconds. His face was bloodied. Their marriage lay in tatters. At this point, I can't see it ever being repaired. This incident was just too much for both of them. It was ugly!" Another source confirms the president is drinking again, forcing the fed-up first lady to confront him. "Laura's had enough of his broken promises to quit, and said something like, "When are you going to stop?" says the second source. "He turned on her, and let loose with a verbal barrage that included curse words. Laura didn't hesitate, she straight out clipped him, scratching his face with her nails before she stormed out of the room, in tears. The president just stood there, shaking his head, totally baffled." Fell off the wagon Bush swore off booze on his 40th birthday, but has sadly fallen off the wagon at various times during his presidency as his political problems mounted and his 30-year marriage soured. In a series of world exclusives, GLOBE has revealed details of the troubled Bush marriage -- from his boozing to Laura's suspicions he was cheating on her with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. For nearly a year they appeared headed for divorce and had even worked out details of a pact to end their marriage. In recent months they had apparently resolved their differences and the marriage was back on track -- but now all that is shot to hell, says the first source. "They're still together because neither of them wants their divorce to emerge as a campaign issue," the insider says. "But neither of them is speaking and they're back to living apart inside the White House. As soon as he leaves office next year, look for them to go their separate ways -- as quickly as possible. This fight was the breaking point, plain and simple! Their marriage is over." The incident was eerily similar to one last March when the plastered president used an obscenity to describe his wife, a source says. Respected author and national security expert Wayne Madsen tells GLOBE Bush used a vile word -- which begins with a "C" -- while "clearly inebriated" and talking to a group of cameramen on the White House lawn. A former Naval officer and National Security Administration official who has been interviewed on such news programs as 60 Minutes, 20/20 and Nightline, Madsen was first to report in 2006 how Laura fled the White House and spent a night in the posh Washington Mayflower Hotel following a vicious argument with her husband. He also first disclosed details of the drunken incident on the White House lawn at his Web site waynemadsenreport.com last March. Madsen says he has confirmation from multiple sources. "From what I understand, he was walking across the lawn to a waiting helicopter," says Madsen. "Laura was in front of him getting on the helicopter, Bush walks over to a couple of guys with cameras and says, "There's Laura over there -- she's a #@&%!" The guys were shocked! But nobody's going to say anything, because they could get their White House credentials taken away for a lot less." In his Web site story of the incident, Madsen reports his sources have seen an intoxicated Bush approaching certain individuals and making insensitive remarks, including this one particularly crude statement about Laura. "White Bush's drinking is no secret in the White House, that particular comment was reportedly the worst anyone has heard uttered by Bush," Madsen says. "Our sources also report Laura's stays at the White House are less frequent and her overnight trips to the Mayflower Hotel often coincide with the president's drunken binges." And now, Madsen says of Bush's wounded face, "I guess they're still having problems. He came back from Crawford with those scratches on his face." |
