Isn't Working!, by Tara Carreon May 14, 2007 First Lady Laura Bush, finally fed up with her husband's boozing, has stormed out of the White House and moved into a nearby hotel as her disastrous marriage exploded in full fury! "She couldn't take it anymore," a source told E! Online columnist Ted Casablanca, who writes The Awful Truth column. "She's had it." The reporter's source confirms what GLOBE has been telling readers for months. "I understand all this came to a head when Laura and the president had another angry confrontation over the state of their marriage," GLOBE's source reveals. "It was the same old thing over and over again. The president doesn't want a divorce, but won't recognize there are any problems with their marriage. "And Laura won't have any of it. But what really set her off is when she accused the president of slurring his words and she demanded to know if he was drinking again. He refused to discuss it -- and she was out the door, plain and simple." Attributing his information to prominent and knowledgeable Washington sources, Casablanca tells GLOBE, "My source told me: Laura's staying at the Hay-Adams. I don't know how many people know ... but it's probably not man." The Hay-Adams is a D.C. landmark, located across from the White House. It has been a gathering spot for Washington's elite for years. "She moved in because she couldn't stand (his) drinking," the source told Casablanca. "She's squeaky-clean and the scuttlebutt is he's back on the 80-proof." Casablanca tells GLOBE, "The news came to me from a totally reliable source and was confirmed by a former White House staff member who is still close to Mrs. Bush." 'He's back on bourbon' And a source now tells GLOBE, "If the president is back on the bourbon badly enough to drive Laura out of the White House again, it could be that all bets are off with their troubled marriage. I'm betting there could be even more explosive events coming and soon! She's done everything she can to save their marriage. Everyone has their breaking point. And Laura has put up with so much." In a series of world exclusives over the last 12 months, GLOBE has been reporting that the 29-year Bush marriage had collapsed into bitterness as the first couple headed for divorce. We have has detailed how brave Laura battled to keep the marriage alive despite the president's drinking and her suspicions that he was cheating on her with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. But it's not the first time she has fled the White House. GLOBE revealed last June that after a stormy confrontation with her husband over Rice, an infuriated first lady spent at least one night at the famed Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. And their once happy marriage continued to deteriorate from there. And, we disclosed, his drinking sprees have so alarmed Laura that she urged him to go through rehab and dry out. In recent months, even as Laura fought to save their marriage, the two came to an agreement that she would remain married to the president until his term expires in January 2009 and could file for divorce later. Now another source tells GLOBE, "Laura helped get him off booze years ago. And I wouldn't count her out just yet. Despite all she's been through, she still loves George. She's desperately hoping he'll wake up and come to his senses and save their marriage. Maybe moving out is just the kick in the pants he needs. Only time is going to tell on this one."
