Dance Index. A monthly magazine published by Ballet Caravan Inc. (New York City Ballet). Begun in 1941 and featuring George Platt Lynes' photographs of individual dancers and company repertoire. Volume III number 12, December 1944 is a retrospective look at George Lynes' ballet photographs, including an essay by Lynes considering this particular aspect of his work.

Dance. New York City Ballet Photographs from 1935 through 1955 Taken by George Platt Lynes, 1907-1956. A large portfolio tribute to George Lynes, published by the New York City Center of Music and Drama in 1957. Included are written tributes to the photographer by George Balanchine, Cecil Beaton, Edwin Denby, Christopher Isherwood, Lincoln Kirstein, John Martin, Marianne Moore, Dame Edith Sitwell, Sir Osbert Sitwell, Pavel Tchelitchew, Carl Van Vechten and Glenway Wescott.

Rolf. Pseudonym for Karl Mein, publisher of the homoerotic monthly Der Kreis (1932-1967) in Zurich, Switzerland. Lynes' photographs first appear in the July 1950 issue. In September of 1951 he began using the pseudonym Robert Rolf, continuing to send his images to the magazine until his death.
