POLICE FIND RELIEF SUPPLIES IN KENNER, LA CITY OFFICIAL'S HOME

by Associated Press

September 21, 2005

BATON ROUGE, La. Police in Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, have allegedly found cases of food, clothing and tools intended for hurricane victims at the home of a top official of the town.

Officials searched Cedric Floyd's home because of complaints that Kenner city workers were helping themselves to the donations. Floyd, who runs the day-to-day operations in Kenner, was in charge of distributing the goods. He's not been reached for comment.

Police plan to seek a charge of committing an illegal act as a public official and charges against other Kenner city workers are possible. A Kenner official added that many employees were themselves hurricane victims.

The donations filled a large pickup truck four times.
