Detroit Industry or Man and Machine, 1932-1933. Fresco. Four wall surfaces divided into five, eight, seven and again seven panels, total painted surface 433.68 sq. m. Central Hall, Rivera Hall, east wall. The Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit, Michigan, Gift of Edsel B. Ford. [The five panels of the east wall, which is opposite the entrance, represent the origins of human life and technology. On one side a baby is depicted embedded in a tumer, and on the other, two ploughs as the earliest form of technology in agriculture.]
