Did you have a good summer
Did you get out of town
Did you fire up the grill
and have the family down
Did you do a little eclectic
Reading, too?
Maybe three Shakespeares and a Camus
While 2,600 souls gone to heaven
Iraq didn’t attack us on 9/11

Did you do a little thinkin’
On your mountain bike?
Did you come up with new phrases
You think folks will like
Like World War II appeasers
And more cut and run
Sir, this ain’t no World War II
This is Vietnam
And 2,600 souls gone to heaven
Iraq didn’t attack us on 9/11

Is it mission accomplished
WMD’s found
Insurgency’s last throes
Boots on the ground
Welcome with flowers
winning hearts and minds
Number 2,508 was a friend of mine

Are you back and tan and rested
Ready for the fall
With new words of mass destruction
And your back against the wall
‘Cause the people who saw through you
saw their worst fears realized
And the people who once trusted you
Now see right through your lies
Will you repackage this misery
you’ve heaped upon our land
And treat patriots like idiots
Left freedom in the sand
Well, we’re tired of your blind arrogance
We’re drowning in your lies
Like those people in New Orleans
That you saw when you flew by
You say history will judge
So you don’t have to answer for
What’s so clearly a disastrous
And misdirected war
Started by this great good nation
You have driven off the tracks
It belongs to We the People
And We the People want it back!

Meanwhile 2,600 souls gone to heaven
Iraq didn’t attack us on 9/11
