"First think of the culpas and the changes that have occurred within. Beings originally were very radiant like the sun, could fly, lived very long lives with huge bodies. They had much joy and happiness, like devas. Then things changed. Bodies shorter, shorter lives, less power, more delusion and non-virtue -- everything sinking. Still getting worse. Will continue until human life span is only 10 years and no dharma remaining. Many obstacles, kleshas, etc. (sickness, hunger and so on). Then Maitreya will come and teach only one thing -- not to kill -- and gradually things will start to improve until the life span is up to 80,000 years and there is wealth and power again."
